Shinsa Kai (Kuramae Dojo)

Today's adults grading test at the Kuramae Dojo a very heated test in all ways possible. Everyone tried so hard and did well. We learned many things from today's grading test. It's not just about mistakes or doing the impossible but it's all about how far you can push yourself from losing to yourself. The road to black belt is no easy journey but if you strive to push yourself to your limit and more you can find you can do much more. We always reach our goal and then we start again over and over. It's a great journey that continues and continues.

Congratulations to everyone today who were tested especially those to tried for their black belts. It will be the start of another beautiful journey for them as it is for others.

Thank you also to Yamaguchi-sensei for holding the test for us and giving us valuable lessons which we take with us in and outside of the dojo.

Ikebana event

Today at the Mugen Karate Kids class in Azabu Juban we were all very fortunate to be presented with the Japanese flower arrangement lesson. Organized by Asae Takahashi, it was a wonderful eye opener into the world of Japanese flower arrangement. One would naturally assumes this art is primarily practiced by females, but it so happens to be that it was originally lead by male masters. Nevertheless, the karate class today made a lot more special with introduction in another Japanese cultural past time. Thank you Asae-san for organizing a fun event.

Tomorrow will be the adult’s grading test at the Kuramae dojo. Best of luck to all the students testing tomorrow. I will surely be taking photos of this special day.
